Really, Akio, it’s time: Say “yes” to Congress

As I have been saying for weeks, Congress will demand that Akio Toyoda testify in upcoming hearings and Toyota will only further damage its reputation and anger Congress if it doesn’t announce soon that its President will testify.

“When Congress calls your company on the carpet, they want to hear from your CEO. Don’t waste time arguing,” is one of the ”lessons learned” in Feeding Frenzy.

Sure enough, today’s Detroit News reports:

Pressure is building in Congress for Toyota’s top official to testify on the company’s string of recalls.

The top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, Rep. Darrell Issa of California, said the committee should subpoena Toyota president Akio Toyoda if he isn’t willing to testify.
